Balmain: 80s Revival Done Right

Combine the indulgent metallics of Studio 54, strong shoulders of the ladder-climbing power suit, and confident body-conscious silhouttes, and what you get is Balmain's brilliant take on 80s revival. While this look has been tried by many, no other designer has been as successful in creating the feeling of empowerment that this look orignally generated.

In the 80s, the combination of broad shoulders, bright colors, and hard angles allowed women to step into society's limelight. In 2009, society needs a new kind of empowerment. It's an inarguable fact that society is in a bit of a funk. Perhaps the same style elements that were used to uplift in the 80s will be used to motivate people out of their economic, or cultural, rut in the new decade.
